The Old Bakery

Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire

DESIGN: Barr Kitchens / Client

BRIEF: A kitchen redesign, renovation and refit for an 18th-century Cotswold stone old bakery, working alongside the Barr Build direct-to-client team. The aim of the project was to enhance the property’s original features and to remain in keeping with its heritage, whilst bringing a fresh, modern look to the space.

CABINETRY: A slimline profile gives this traditional in-frame Shaker a more contemporary aesthetic. Following the asymmetric footprint of the original building, cabinetry is carefully scribed into the centuries-old walls and ceilings, and painted in Slaked Lime Dark by Little Greene and Hornblende by Paint & Paper Library. Further made-to-measure features include inset chimney breast spice cupboards and a cooker hood moulding.

FITTINGS: The kitchen is designed around specific appliance choices, which included a Fisher & Paykel American-style fridge-freezer and a stainless steel Smeg range cooker. Worktops by Compac in Unique Arabescato, with matched upstand, flank a traditional butlers sink. Corston bronze hardware finishes the look.
