Did you miss the BarrKitchens Spring Open Day? Didn’t sample the homemade sausage rolls and fresh coffee? No chance to peruse the sample vision boards and layout plans? Don’t worry - we will fill you in…
The early birds took advantage of BarrKitchen’s Designer Lucy Hiller’s time and were able to hone down their design ideas and put together an initial layout. The first guests were young families – when you’re up at 6am with the kids on a Saturday morning why would you not be ready and raring to go well before nine!
As things got busier and the designers were taken up with appointments and visitors queries we kept Stuart (Barr Group companies’ director) busy…making coffee! He was even spotted on the reception desk taking customers details (great that you are keeping those admin skills up to scratch Stuart!)
Lucy Hillier, BarrKitchens designer, relays her overview of the customer requirements of the day:
- A whopping 90% of visitors to the Barr HQ at Field Farm on Saturday were either extending or remodelling their kitchen space (now or in the future) and needed advice not only on kitchen design but also structural considerations and wider spatial planning.
- 50% of visitors were unaware that The Barr Group Companies offers construction, joinery and kitchens services under one roof.
- There seemed to be a 50:50 split between people looking for contemporary and traditional cabinetry.
- Many people wanted a gauge on the prices of our kitchens and what we can offer at BarrKitchens over and above the high street ‘bespoke’ products.
Lucy explains “Its pretty simple; a made to measure kitchen, like a Saville Row tailored suit, is designed and manufactured for a specific look and fit; every detail considered and every stitch/ joint perfect. When cabinetry is manufactured in multiple, standard sized units, the best the retailer can offer is a good jigsaw with appropriately in-filled spaces. When designed from scratch, the cabinetry can be everything a client desires, both inside and out - there are absolutely no constraints.
Visitor Joanne Park and her husband are delighted to have received planning permission for the extension to their family home. Having gone to build tender they are busy planning the kitchen, bathrooms and other internal elements. She popped in on Saturday to have a look around and tells us “I had a very helpful meeting with Kitchens designer Lucy Hillier we discussed our ideas and she is putting together a layout plan and 3D design for us. We also spoke to Stuart about the extension and remodelling of our property, which was extremely helpful. It was great to find a one-stop shop and input from Stuart himself was invaluable.
By the end of the day and 48 sets of interested renovators (local and not so local) later, the BK and extended Barr Group team were looking slightly dazed - but still smiling!
The next Field Farm event is the October Home Show, where the Barr Group Companies collaborate with other like-minded complementary businesses to provide an even wider spectrum of services for those looking to improve their homes.
